Beyond Gymnastics was founded by Taylor James (current owner) and Taylor Cole Woolworth (former co-owner) in January 2018. The “Taylors” had the passion to start this program after noticing a need for inclusive recreational activities in the community. After years of coaching gymnastics and simultaneously working as ABA therapists for kids with autism, they decided to open a gym specifically designed to meet the needs of EVERY child that came through the door. Now, Beyond Gymnastics prides itself on maintaining an inclusive environment that offers a recreational gymnastics experience for every child regardless of abilities, skill level, or backgrounds all while teaching children that it’s okay to play and participate along peers that may be different from themselves.
Meet the Team
Taylor – Owner / Founder
I’ve been here since the beginning in January 2018. I grew up in Mandeville, LA doing gymnastics and began coaching when I was in high school. I loved my childhood gym, but moved to Baton Rouge for college at LSU. I graduated with my bachelor’s in Biology and worked in ABA for a bit while planning to apply for PA school. Instead, we opened the gym 🙂
Outside of the gym, I like to spend time with my fiance’ Nathan and step-daughter Holly. We like to go hiking with our crazy dog, Mia, and play at home with our equally crazy cats, Barry and Bon Bon. I also enjoy taking aerial silks classes, watching Netflix, and listening to podcasts.
Coach Casey – Gym Manager
Preschool Director, Gymnastics Coach, and Office Manager
I joined the Beyond Gymnastics team in the summer of 2021. My favorite part of working here is seeing the look of accomplishment on a child’s face when they have mastered a skill they previously could not do.
My husband John and I are both from Baton Rouge and were married in 2009. Our beautiful daughter Evie was born in 2016 and diagnosed with ASD in 2020. We also have a Scottish Terrier. Our family loves anything and everything Disney! In my spare time, I enjoy painting and drawing.
Theresa – Office Administrator
I joined the Beyond Gymnastics team in 2019. After coaching for a few years, I moved into an admin role to help with all the things that go on behind the scenes in our gym.
I’m currently in school at Fran U studying Business Administration with a minor in psychology. When I’m not at work or studying, I like to hang out with my dog, Phonsie. I also enjoy roller derby, self-defense classes, and tap dance classes with my mom.
Janet – Volunteer Office Manager
In 2021, I first joined the Beyond Gymnastics community as a parent. Through my experience working in special education and behavior management, I soon began helping out around the gym to ensure that each student in the program was set up for success during class and camp. Not too long after that, I began the official summer camp director for 2022. Now, I’m working as a volunteer front desk/office manager a few nights a week and helping to oversee the adaptive lessons in the gym during these times.
In my free time, I like to hang out with my husband, Matt, and my 9 year old, Trey. We enjoy playing legos and watching movies together.
Coach Jennifer – Gymnastics Coach
I joined the Beyond Gymnastics team in May 2022. I enjoy working here because I get to make a difference in kids’ lives while teaching them the sport I love.
I am a student at LSU and plan to attend school for Occupational Therapy after that. I have a large family that I enjoy spending time with in my downtime. I also like watching TV, listening to music, and doing pilates.
April – Preschool Gymnastics Coach
I joined the Beyond Gymnastics team in February 2022. I teach preschool and toddler classes.
When I’m not at the gym, you’ll find me hanging out with my husband and kids.
Lily – Preschool Gymnastics Coach

I am in school at Fran U and am currently applying for PA schools! enjoy spending time with my family, baking, and playing with my dog.
I officially joined the Beyond Gymnastics staff in 2023 after volunteering with the special needs program for 4 years!
I’m currently a senior at St. Joseph’s Academy. I have been a gymnast for all of my life and love having the chance to spread my love for the sport with my students.
I joined the Beyond Gymnastics team this year after volunteering at the Winter Camp and loving in. I now work all of the holiday camps and teach gymnastics classes in the afternoons. I love my new boys’ class this semester!
I’m currently a senior at St. Joseph’s Academy. After years of gymnastics and volleyball, I’m now a member of the power-lifting team for my school.
Our volunteers help keep our programs moving forward. From laminating visuals to assisting with actual special needs classes, we couldn’t do it without these guys!
